Argentine electronic musician BEATRIZ FERREYRA, who began working at the legendary "GRM" in 1963 and dedicated herself to revitalizing musique concrète, has released her third compilation of past works! This compilation features the track “UFO Forest”—originally created in 1986 and released on CD in 1998—along with three new, previously unreleased tracks, bringing together works created using both tape-based and computer-based approaches.
Following the previous compilation, this release is from ROOM40, run by LAWRENCE ENGLISH. Originally released in 1998 as a self-titled compilation by 〈MNÉMOSYNE MUSIQUE MÉDIA〉—a CD that is now extremely difficult to find—this vinyl release features “UFO Forest” (sample 1) from that album. A concrete music masterpiece that features overdubs of tape-recorded sources, unfolding alchemically over a little over 14 minutes. The tape-based A-side, in particular, reconstructs a single source as if peering through a microscope, showcasing the dynamic and rich sound of Beatriz Ferreyra. This is a series I hope will continue for a long time to come.
