An utterly unique guitar/bass/drums triad: the guitar sounds like anything but a guitar; bass and drums simultaneously insistent and relaxed. Telephathic group-think opens a window to fresh fields of fusion: funk-jazz heads, polyrhythmic skeletons, ambient pastorals, post-kraut drones and shimmering soundtrack reveries. A music of sustained tension and deep atmosphere, marked by subtle, shifting dynamics playing out in an open sound field.

Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke, Merzbow, From PHEW to Alvin Lucier and Manuel Göttsching, Oren Ambarchi is a musician who performs in a wide variety of sessions. He is also the owner of 〈Black Truffle〉, a label that releases everything from current experimental music to historical works spanning Indian classical, Eastern music, and contemporary music, and is one of the key figures in experimental music.
“Ghosted II” features a trio consisting of bassist Johan Berthling—head of the Swedish label 〈Häpna〉 and a longtime collaborator of Oren Ambarchi—and drummer Andreas Werliin, both of whom have performed with Mats Gustafsson and Johan in projects such as the Fire! Orchestra.
The preview track “Tre” layers double bass, polyrhythmic drums, and folk-inspired rhythms with abstract electronic sounds (perhaps played on guitar?) and minimalist, harp-like tones. It really makes you want to experience it live. Wonderful music. I’ve got the vinyl in my collection. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
