A landmark in trip-hop. “Suzuki,” the second album released in 2000 by Tosca—a project featuring Richard Dorfmeister of Kruder & Dorfmeister and musician Rupert Huber, who has also worked in experimental and classical music—is now available as an analog reissue.
Track List
First press since original release in 2000, Suzuki is the second studio album by Austrian downtempo / trip-hop duo Tosca, released by Studio !K7 and G-Stone Recor- dings in 2000.
Unlike many of Tosca's subsequent releases, Suzuki is essentially an instrumental album, with vocal samples integrated throughout, but in such a way that they become a part of the instrumentation.

Based in Vienna, Austria, at G-STONE Recordings, the project Tosca gained overwhelming popularity with genres such as trip-hop, abstract, dub, and nu-jazz. Following their 1996 album *Opera*, they released their second “Suzuki,” released in 2000, followed their 1996 debut “Opera.” It includes a dedication to Toshitaka Suzuki, a Soto Zen Buddhist monk who moved to San Francisco in 1959 to spread the teachings of “Zen” and had a profound influence on the counterculture. It incorporates elements of dub, hip-hop, jazz, ambient, and psychedelic electronic music. Although there are no vocal tracks, the sound creates a sensation as if the human voice were reaching into a state of heightened awareness; rather than simply being “chill-out,” it offers a deep, energetic soundscape with a rich worldview.
