A fusion of immersive ambient dub and innovative broken rhythms that redefine denbō. This year marks the 10th anniversary of 〈FULL DOSE〉—a collective of unique talents, including VILLA ÅBO, who are carving out their own path in dub—and their latest release is by DJ FIREHOUSE! Influenced by late-2000s dubstep and dub techno, combined with avant-garde rhythm science.
Track List
From Glasgow’s next-generation left-field dub hotspot, *FULL DOSE*. “Cross Fader” (sample 1) features Denbow-style drum hits set against a buoyant ambient backdrop. Also featured are “Gardening” (sample 2), a mutant dubstep track with a hypnotic, repeating ragga MC sample, and “Starpol 666” (sample 3), an experimental digidub track that explores abstraction through flowing basslines and pads. Not only does it deliver heavy bass with intense pressure, but the languid mood that permeates the entire EP is also excellent. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
