Rosie’s voice is layered multiple times, not as a conventional lead vocal but as an instrument that traces the piano chords, with fragmented words, breaths, humming, and backing vocals blending with Duval’s sparse piano, double bass, and samples. There are reportedly sections where over 100 voices are layered. Recorded between 2019 and 2021 in London and Freetown, Sierra Leone. The recordings were made with doors left open, capturing the sounds of birds, traffic, the presence of people, and even the reverberations of the space itself.
The album also includes poetry by Julian Knxx, a contemporary poet and filmmaker who similarly divides his time between Sierra Leone and London.

It offers a glimpse into London’s experimental soul and contemporary music communities, showcasing an imagination that resonates with Afrofuturism. Yet, regardless of the theory behind it, the album stands as a uniquely accomplished work of static R&B and gospel. Released in 2021, it features 9 tracks totaling approximately 20 minutes. Rather than an album, it’s more like a series of short sound plays. Personally, I think it’s a mutant masterpiece—reminiscent of The Vernon Spring’s classic *A Plane Over Woods*—where the shadows of ambient and UK soul intertwine.
