Produced by MAURICE FULTON! Zanzibar-born singer and percussionist MIM SULEIMAN releases her first full-length album in seven years on the renowned label 〈RUNNING BACK〉! Bold Swahili vocals and electro-funk. Afro-percussion and machine beats. Dance music where different cultures intersect, blended in perfect balance—it’s powerful.
Track List
BubbleTease Communications and Running Back team up once again for Mim Suleimans fifth studio album on vinyl and compact disc. During the course of Si Bure you will find Mim at her very best. Its easy to imagine the Zanzibar-born-UK-based vocalist and percussionist dancing and prancing to the 14 songs featured here. The tropes of house and disco are mixed here with wonderful rhythmic adventures, infectious futuristic pop and ultramodern African music, while the mesmerizing and addictive lyrics are sung in Swahili and deal with love and affection, freedom, oppression, unity and everyday life. Enchanting, entrancing and entertaining all the way. Produced by Maurice Fulton.

MIM SULEIMAN and MAURICE FULTON, who have been friends for about 10 years, are finally releasing their long-awaited collaboration—once again on *RUNNING BACK*! The track “Aruka” is a jam blending Afrobeat with SULEIMAN’s ethereal vocals, while “Usiogope” (sample 1) features a distinctly FULTON-esque electronic, funky house beat underpinned by Afro-inspired chorus elements. Then there’s “Na Mia,” which seems to be driven by indigenous percussion before a drum machine steps in. Rather than simply bringing their respective elements together, this is a superb piece of work where they’re exquisitely blended without either giving way to the other—it was particularly memorable when BEN UFO played it at Boiler Room.
