SOMETHING ABOUT - Cat No: SOMETHING ABOUT 008
- updated:2024-12-28
Electronic sounds infused with natural landscapes and minimalist rhythms—the comforting sensation of your footsteps syncing with the music as you stroll. COMPUMA’s new album, “horizons,” marks his first release in about two years! Inspired by and created from the natural landscapes of various locations, including the shores of Lake Gotsu in Kumamoto—the place where his roots lie. A natural soundscape that blurs the boundaries between ambient, electronic, and downtempo music, viewed through the lens of the life cycle.

COMPUMA’s long-awaited new album has arrived on his own label, *SOMETHING ABOUT*! The album features a total of seven tracks, including five songs that build upon the title track “horizons 1,” as well as an electro version of “View 2”—originally included on his previous album *A View* and now available on CD for the first time. The organic electronic sound reflects the natural environment. Not only do the looping rhythms, but the album’s progression as a whole offer a comforting sense of connection to the cycle of daily life. While evoking a sense of nostalgic imagination, the album also delivers a physical realism through the incorporation of vocoders and ambient sounds. With a cross-genre appeal that spans downtempo, minimal electronics, and ambient, this album is versatile enough to serve as background music for daily life or as dancefloor material. Soichiro Nakamura handled the mastering, and Sei Suzuki created the artwork. Highly recommended. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
