It’s easy to see why James Blake holds them in such high regard: MALA—one half of the cutting-edge duo Digital Mystikz, pioneers of the dubstep scene—has teamed up with Giles Peterson to create an album with local musicians in Havana, Cuba. “Mala in Cuba” looks set to be one of the most talked-about releases of the second half of this year. It’s a sound clash between Cuba’s spiritual roots music and South London’s sound system culture! The music—refined, cutting-edge, powerful, and grounded—fills the space with a deep, rich, and lush sound. Featuring 14 tracks in total, this 4-LP set of 180g heavyweight vinyl clearly conveys a deep love for, expertise in, and passion for analog records. It’s wonderful. You can listen to 3 tracks each from Samples 1 and 2, and 4 tracks from Sample 3. * 4-LP set of 180g vinyl, gatefold sleeve. (Not a box set.) * Includes a download code for bonus tracks.
