We’ve restocked AKI TSUYUKO’s CD, which she independently released in 2016. We’ve also received a vinyl version of the album. I personally heard it for the first time last year and was completely captivated. It’s one of my favorite piano albums, right up there with Emma Hoi Tsege-Mariam Gobru.

Starting with the 1999 release “Music Room”—released on Childisc, run by Nobukazu Takemura, and also licensed by MOIKAI, run by Jim O’Rourke—the number of releases has been limited. However, the 2008 collaboration with Ippei Matsui, “All of Summer,” was reissued on vinyl in the UK last year, and and a cassette was released by NYC COMMEND—a label associated with RVNG INTL.—captivating a dedicated following. This 2006 work began as a self-released CD sold at live venues and was later reissued on vinyl. I think it exudes a quiet, secret radiance amidst a sense of desolation. A classic. The artwork by Ippei Matsui—I believe the “empty” sections are depicted on the back cover—is simply magnificent. I received a copy of the CD directly from the artist himself. Highly recommended.
