Brazilian jazz-fusion giant Flora Purim delivers "If You Will," her first studio album in 15 years, out on Strut. The record brings together many of Flora's closest musical companions — longtime partner Airto Moreira, guitarist José Neto, her daughter Diana Purim on vocals, and percussionist Celso Alberti — as if celebrating this latest chapter in her career. Eight tracks in all, including the title track and George Duke collaboration A1 "If You Will Feat. Diana Purim" (sample 1), A3 "500 Miles High" (sample 2), a cover of the classic from the heyday of the late Chick Corea's band Return To Forever, and the bracing Brazilian fusion of B1 "Newspaper Girl" (sample 3), graced by a pleasing humming duet with Airto Moreira. A dazzling, deeply satisfying evergreen masterpiece brimming with flavor and fresh air. Highly recommended. The standard black vinyl LP is also in stock. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
