Titled “Sum Of Its Parts,” this new music project is led by Alex Nut—a key figure in the UK underground scene known for his work as a DJ, curator, radio host, remixer, label operator—a key figure who has been active behind the scenes of the UK underground scene—as well as a co-founder of Eglo Records and one of the label’s current flagship artists. Under his direction, the project features Sam Crow (Lianne La Havas) on keyboards, Junior Ali-Balogun (Sault/Cleo Sol) on percussion, and Duane Azali (Kokoroko) on bass, the project brings together a diverse group of artists to explore and create a new sonic landscape that traverses spiritual jazz, deep house, broken beats, beatdown, and electronica.
The project’s debut EP, The Message, features the 8-minute-and-36-second spiritual jazz epic “The Message” (A1) (sample1), a deeply meditative exploration, along with two original tracks: the soul jazz deep house gem “Hello High” (A2) (sample2), previously included on the Eglo Records Vol. 3 compilation, "Hello High" (sample2)—a soul jazz/deep house gem previously included on the Eglo Records Vol. 3 compilation—as well as two superb remixes by renowned house producer Boddhi Satva: the Afro-broken-beats crossover track B1 “The Message (Boddhi Satva Ancestral Soul Mix)” and B2 “The Message (Boddhi Satva Ancestral Soul Dub)” (sample 3), which leads dubby into meditative, jazzy Afro-spiritual deep house. Featuring four tracks that invite you on a journey into a profound, introspective universe, perfect for both the dance floor and listening at home. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
