VOID CONTROL, whose debut album—featuring remixes by ALEX SMOKE and MOTHER—generated a huge buzz, has made another request—this time under the ZAR moniker, which they’ve used to release percussive, rhythm-driven music! ZAR’s “Geodesic” (sample 1) weaves together the intricate interplay of swirling tribal percussion and keyboard percussion with a laid-back, deep bassline; the remix by VOID CONTROL—which retains the gong’s solemn resonance while adding a solid groove—is also excellent.
