Featuring Derek Bailey, Michael Nyman, John White, this 24 minutes and 28 seconds of contemporary ambient music is a majestic, sorrowful, and beautiful masterpiece—a true pinnacle of the genre—in which various sounds are serenely collaged into a six-string ensemble. The piece is also famous for the anecdote that Haruomi Hosono’s grandfather was the only Japanese passenger aboard the ship.
