MUSIQUE’s iconic vocal phrase from “Keep On Jumpin’” serves as the hook, while the slap funk bass cuts right through—a razor-sharp, minimalist edit that’s a true funk masterpiece! A new release from the label 〈SWEET BREEZE SOUND〉, known for its nostalgic tracks that make heavy use of sampling. The B-side features a sample from the Puerto Rican Latin music track “Carnaval” (1974) by Cortijo & His Time Machine.

〈BASTARD BOOTS〉 From the Washington, D.C.-based world music DJ team "SOL POWER ALL-STARS"—whose Afro-reedit works from labels like 〈G.A.M.M.〉 were also well-received—comes the fourth release on 〈SWEET BREEZE SOUND〉, a label that has previously featured popular edit artists such as KING MOST! “Music Takes Me” (sample 1) is an edit-funk track that’ll sweep you away with its use of the “Keep On Jumpin’” vocals, drums that intertwine smoothly with gritty cymbals, and—as expected—a funky bass riff. The B-side is equally impressive: “Carnaval Del Tiempo” (sample 2) features the call-and-response from “Carnaval,” a Puerto Rican Latin jazz track beloved as a sampling source, reworked into a house arrangement with the addition of an even kick—making for a truly unique track!
