The debut album from “THE PSYCHEDELIC FREAKS,” a new project/group by the genius Horatio Luna, themed around a 70s space jazz and fusion odyssey!!! A new world of dark Afrobeat, psychedelic jazz-funk, and fusion crossover, influenced by the electric-era Miles Davis and others. The soundscapes of the bass and synths, along with the shifting intensity, feel somehow dangerous. This is wild.

The debut album from a new project led by Horatio Luna (a.k.a. Henry Hicks), the genius bassist and composer of the Melbourne, Australia-based jazz/soul band 30/70. Drawing inspiration from Fela Kuti, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Dave Holland, Paul Jackson, Carol Kaye, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, and Alice Coltrane, among others. This is a mind-blowing psychedelic Afro-jazz-funk session featuring Luna himself on bass, guitar, Casio guitar, and synth, as well as vocals, drums, and percussion, alongside three synthesizer players and a trumpet. 6 tracks. The heavyweight LP is a real treat. Released on LA SAPE, a promising up-and-coming Australian label run by the artist himself. While the price is on the higher side, this analog release is an absolute gem. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
