A mechanical junk-techno ensemble featuring eight turntables loaded with everyday objects, rather than records. This is the full-fledged comeback album from the German turntable experimental collective Institut für Feinmotorik—active since ’97—following a hiatus of about 10 years. “Creating almost nothing from almost nothing”—their carefree approach is fascinating. Debuting on Jan Jelinek’s *Faitiche*.
Track List

A polyrhythmic sound installation created using the DIY system “Octogrammoticum”—a combination of eight turntables and four mixers—where everything from rubber bands and aluminum foil to CDs and power strips is scraped by record needles, generating sounds through friction, vibration, and accidental loops. Layering improvisation with random loops, this quirky funkiness borders on dub techno. Or perhaps Dixieland jazz played on scrap metal? The marvelous dynamism of this junk-based sound, brimming with humor! (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
