This new work, "The Salamander Treaty," takes its inspiration from "Válka s mloky" (War with the Newts), the 1936 sci-fi masterpiece by Czech novelist Karel Capek. Most of the pieces here were made using the Carbophone Jr., a compact, portable version of the original self-built Carbophone that formed the basis of 2018's "Early Carbophonics." With tape experimentation and an array of effects, it exudes a spacey, warm, analog atmosphere — African, exotic, rhythmic, refined minimalism that feels like floating forever in an oriental Shangri-La cosmos, a timeless, blissful ease. Eight tracks of one-of-a-kind melody attuned to negative space and the gaps of the universe, grooving in uniquely mysterious, dubby fashion. An exploration of the space between experimentalism and modern dubwise, roots and traditional music, and cutting-edge experimental dance music. Another superb outing.

There is also a piece dedicated to the legendary creatures known as the Rhinogradentia — in all, eight exotic, orientalist, wondrously strange and experimental psychedelic sound spaces.
