A long-awaited release. Honoré Boulanger, the talented French artist who caused a stir with her domestic release on WINDBELL—the label that launched MOCKY and Josephine Foster—is now in stock on vinyl.
We’ve also been promoting the Belgian-French label “LE SAULE” in collaboration with WINDBELL and SHHHHH. Video artist Vincent Moon has also created visuals and soundtracks for the label, which brings together a diverse group of unique artists such as Antoine Royer, Jean-Daniel Botta, and Philippe Club—and one of its leading figures is the female ar...Read more (Original Japanese text by Saito)tist Léonore Boulanger. Her avant-pop is uniquely delightful, drawing on a diverse range of musical influences including folklore, world music, experimental alternative music, and theater. While inheriting the tradition of the French pop avant-garde—such as Brigitte Fontaine and Les Rita Mitsuko—and the spirit of the “Reco-style” scene, she possesses a knack for transforming cutting-edge sonic elements into pop while retaining a charming appeal, making her a must-listen for fans of Joanna Muesam and Fana Molina. Featuring Jamie Riddle on the lead track “Keep Feelin’ This,” this mini-album—which is being released digitally only overseas—includes previously unreleased tracks (including “AMAIMONO,” performed at the last live show). A CD album available exclusively in Japan!
Following the release of the album “Key Change” and his electrifying Japan tour—which many voted as the best act and best album of 2015—MOCKY returns with his 2016 album. The lead track, “Keep Feelin’ This,” features longtime collaborator Jamie Riddle on lead vocals. It’s a dance track blending vocals, electronics, and loose drum and bass grooves, ...Read more (Original Japanese text by Saito)interspersed with dub mixes. The sound beautifully carries on the laid-back vibe and “wall of sound” aesthetic of his previous work. Featuring tracks like “Sweet Things,” which includes NIA ANDREWS and JOEY DOSIK—who accompany him on every visit to Japan—as well as a track featuring MIGUEL ATWOOD-FERGUSON, this album showcases the wonderful world of MOCKY. Led by Marc Orandell—one of the unsung godfathers of the global independent label scene—Aksak Mabour’s third album, their first in 40 years, is a two-disc set featuring 22 tracks.
From MOCKY and Takeo Toyama to JOSEPHINE FOSTER, the domestic label WINDBELL—which teaches us about music through poetic lyrics regardless of trends—has released a 2020 album that, surprisingly, is a new work by AKSAK MABOUL! Tracks from their debut album have appeared in various mixes, and every track is a classic—yet from the industry’s perspecti...Read more (Original Japanese text by Shhhhh)ve, were they buried in a sea of archives, much like SPINETTA? I’ve taken the liberty of interpreting this as: “Was now the time for understanding and liberation?” It’s fascinating that this is the band of Marc Hollander—founder of Belgium’s Crammed Disc, a label that, while serving as the epicenter of so-called “world music,” constantly stands on the outside, viewing it from a critical yet loving perspective. Featuring Fred Frith and others from the Henry Cow circle, as well as high-caliber pop artisans like Léticia Sadir and Julien Gasc from the Stereolab scene. I used to think progressive rock and spoken word were things of the past, but no, that’s not the case at all. It’s the elegant play, singing, and performance of grown-ups. It’s the best. The liner notes by Shinya Matsuyama and “Marc Hollander Tells the Aksak Mabour Story” are also must-reads. The text by WINDBELL on its own page feels like a work of art in itself, so please enjoy the whole package. (Original Japanese text by Shhhhh)

MOCK's 2017 release! The latest addition to The Moxtape series. We've also restocked other releases from 〈WINDBELL〉.

True to the Moxtape series, it features a seamless chain of MOCKY’s pop music—infused with dub, sample-based arrangements, an edit-oriented sensibility, and playful mixing—that’s pure dance music. MOCKY delivers another fun listen. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
