Oren Ambarchi—a contemporary master musician and guitarist who, in addition to heading up *Black Truffle*, continues to release a steady stream of intense collaborative works with artists such as Charlemagne Palestine, Christer Bothén, Will Guthrie, and Crys Cole in 2026—is releasing a new album this year via *Drag City*. Side A begins with Eiko Ishibashi’s piano, followed by Konrad Sprenger’s synthetic vocals, Ambarchi’s guitar, Joe Talia’s drums, and synthesizer arpeggios, all intertwining in rapid succession. Side B features guitar and double bass reminiscent of Miles Davis’s electric era, a shō, and electronic sounds—all intertwined—while Side B features an explosive synth solo by Marcus Pal, along with a rhythm box and Isak Hedtjärn’s whistling. This is a breathtaking studio session—a feast for the ears—crafted with a cast of stellar musicians, both wildly imaginative and meticulously constructed. Highly recommended.
